Guest photosIf you are looking for a place for a family reunion, a football retreat, or a peaceful getaway, look no further. The Sublett Place provides just such a rental hideaway for you. I have two houses available with one being the main house and the other is a small cottage adjacent to the main house . These beautiful homes-away-from home are  only 20 miles from Virginia Tech and Blacksburg, Virginia and all that the area has to offer. The getaway is located in the New River Valley of the Blue Ridge Highlands on 50 acres of the original Sublett Farm (see Our Story). You will enjoy spectacular views of scenic mountains and rolling valleys as well as a Christmas tree farm.  The location makes it the perfect place to stay for VA Tech games, conferences, special events, family reunions, social gatherings or just a place to getaway for some quiet serenity.  The location can be driven in less than twenty minutes on beautiful country roads and my homes are located on a large Christmas Tree farm giving our visitors plenty of space to play, hike and get some fresh country air.

The Sublett Place offers a whole house rental that makes it affordable for a family or group of friends to stay together while visiting the New River Valley. For those of you who need a smaller house, I also have a cottage that is just as beautiful and comfortable as the main house.  The cottage can be rented as a separate unit or in addition to the main house at the same time. As my guest, you may want to unite and commune with nature surrounding the home or just relax and enjoy the peace and quiet of country living.

As mentioned, The Sublett Place is near the historic, cultural, university town of Blacksburg (The Virginia Tech Airport is 20 minutes away). Almost everything you would want to do is available in the area. Fine restaurants, elite shops, and tranquil spas are available. The Appalachian Trail crosses the road 1.6 miles below the The Sublett Place which is perfect for families picking up their hikers and getting  a good nights rest before resuming your hike. Boating, fishing, biking, hunting, camping, canoeing, kayaking,  skiing and other sports can be found on the notable New River or the smaller creeks in our county.  Joe’s Trees and Bubbleball are directly across the road from The Sublett Place. The Cascade Trail features an amazing waterfall as do the beautiful Mill Creek Falls.  You could also visit the Olde Brick Hotel and Craig County Artisan’s Center in downtown New Castle or slip over the mountain to Paint Bank and visit the Swinging Bridge Restaurant, Buffalo Farm and historic Depot Lodge.

Pair of Eagles
A pair of our National birds is seen in the area frequently.

Some people choose bird watching or whitewater rafting. The New River Gorge National River is another wonderful place to visit in the area. For the true golfers at heart, there are numerous public and award-winning courses. If you are in Blacksburg on Wednesdays from 2 p.m-7 p.m. or on Saturday from 8 a.m.-2 p.m., you may want to visit the Blacksburg Farmer’s Market. Among the many items you will find at the market are fresh vegetables and wholesome foods.

“I was at this place several weeks back and it is awesome! Love the whole family, I do! Need a vacation? This is a good place to go! I just can’t wait to visit again!”

Thanks Barbara. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay with us.

Rita Caldwell states:  “I never expected such a warm, cozy home for a vacation place.  The Sublett house is huge, beautifully decorated, and has all the amenities travelers would love to have anywhere they go.  The main house and cottage are next door to each other and great for a big family get-together.  Hotels are no comparison to the interior of this home and the exterior scenery is breathtaking!”
